Last Blog Entry

Hello everybody!

Today I'm going to publish my very last blog entry. It's about the whole blog "13 Reasons Why", Hannah's decision to kill herself and who is to blame most for it. I'm going to tell you what I think now and I hope that even if you're not of the same opinion as me, you will at least understand me.

Okay, so let's start with my opinion about the book. I think it was a good story. Not hard to understand but also not boring. I could easily identify with the persons (not all) in the story. What's important is that  though we knew how the novel would end, that Hannah would commit suicide and that no one would changed that, while reading there was still hope inside us/me. So it was well written and though there was the ending we kind of expected, there was also something good and giving hope about it. The decision to run after Skye gives "13 Reasons Why" an open ending which leaves the reader(s) hopeful.
I like the book and I may have read it if we wouldn't have in school.

So now let's think about Hannah's decision. She commited suicide. That's cruel. But was it the only way out? And the final question: Who is to blame most for it?!

I don't think Hannah had no other chance. There were so many of them which Hannah didn't take. She could have talked. Talked to anyone. But she didn't. In the last chapter, cassette 7A she said she would give Mr Porter the chance of saving her life. But did she? No, I think she just wanted an excuse. She didn't really try to be helped. There were so many people who could have done this but Hannah's mind was set much earlier than she said it was. And yes, what people did to her was't good. But it was only so bad because it all happened to her. If only one of those things would have been done to her, it would only be marked as "a stupid joke" or a "mistake". And most of them are. Some actions are worse than others. But it's very hard to justify. Isn't what Bryce did worst? He raped a girl! So, you coud say he is the one you shoul avoid most, who would be going to jail if anyone told. But no, for Hannah's story, he was just one of many stupid persons. It's hard to say who is to blame most. Very hard. But for Hannah's story, for the "snowball effect", it has to be the beginning. The very first who started everything and so made everything for Hannah end. The one who let the snowball begin to role. Justin Foley.
But is that fair? He's a teenage boy. On every school there are rumors and Justin didn't know this would cost Hannah's life. Otherwise, he definetly wouldn't have told any lie about Hannah.
She herself could have changed it. Life. Everything. Everybody is responsible for themselves. So do we have to ask ourselves if Hannah is to blame most?

Thanks for reading my very last post, Bye!

CASSETTE 4: SIDE B

Hello everyone!

Today I'm going to talk about Ryan Shaver. What he did and how it influenced Hannah's feeligs.

Ryan talked to Hannah and gained her trust with telling her his feelings and showing her his poets. So she thought there was kind of a connection between them. And there was, at least for the beginning. But after a little while, he published  one of Hannah's poets. The most important one. After Tyler stole her privacy and Courtney broke her trust in people, Hannah had only her thoughts. Ryan took them and made the whole school be able to read them. Hannah's mind was to be read like a book. By everyone. That's very important for Hannah's story. It doesn't seem like having such a big importance, but it has. Hannah had nothing anymore. Her frindship with Ryan: over. Her thoughts: not her own anymore. Her trust: broken. After this she would have needed a help. She couldn't have lived like that anymore. She needed a change.
But there wasn't.
It just got worse.

Please tell me your opinion about this blogpost.

CASSETTE 3: SIDE B

Hey there!
I read the chapter about Hannah's 6th reason to kill herself. The chapter, and also my post is about Marcus Cooley. And what he did is cruel. Hannah is very disappointed and I understand that. She's more than disappointed. She's desperately disappointed, exploited and humiliated. And that is Marcus' fault. He pretended to like her. Hannah thought he was serious. She started to be hopeful again. But he destroyed her. He came late to the date and then he thronged her. He tried to touch and kiss her and wouldn't let go until she pushed him away
hard. The cafe was full of people so Hannah was lucky Marcus couldn't do more.

But what's shocking most, is Marcus' reaction to the tapes. He wasn't ashamed and didn't feel sorry at all! what kind of people can be so cruel?! He joked about Hannah. About her feelings and actions he caused!

I have to say I feel very sorry about Hannah. There's no way anyone deserves to suffer like her. Except Marcus maybe?!

CASSETTE 2: SIDE B

This is my second blog entry. It's about the third reason why Hannah killed herself. So let's get started!

First I want to tell you how I feel about Tyler. What he did is cruel. How could he go intentionately to Hannah's house, to stalk her and take photos of her?! No one who can think clear and straight would do that. It's really humiliating! Especially for Hannah, if the pictures would have come out.
So what she did on the tapes was like revenge. She got to his home and did the same. Okay, she looked away and it was not her intention to take pictures of him or so. But the knowledge of someone strange wandering around in your territory can be frightening. And for Tyler it is also very embaressing. He finds out he was being watched a couple of weeks later. And in addition, 12 more people will know about this, too. But yes, he kind of deserves it. What he did is not understandable. And maybe the fact that he will suffer a bit for the things he did, made Hannah feel a little bit better when she was still alive.

Please tell me whether you agree with my post or not.

CASSETTE 1: SIDE B

This Post is about Alex Standall.
The guy who startet the "snowball effect", Hannah is talking about on almost every tape. But could he know?! No, he definitely couldn't. Of course, it wasn't really nice. But it was a joke. Just a joke. And Hannah has the right to be mad about Alex. But to my mind, it's Jessica who is more affected by this dumb list. At least, at that moment. She is insultet and Hannah is not. You could even see it as a compliment, that Hannah is called "Best Ass in the Freshman Class". I think that no one can blame Alex for the repercussions of his list. But nevertheless, it did affect Hannah's life. Even more than anyone could have predicted. I wouldn't like to be in his shoes. He must be feeling guilty for his entire life. But everyone on these tapes will. No one can change this.
